Credit Card Payments
As of June 1, 2005, the Gladwin County Treasurer’s Office began accepting credit card payments for taxes. To use this service call Government Payment Service, Inc. (GPS) at 888-604-7888, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, or by logging on to the GPS website at www.governmentpayment.com. There is a 5% service fee for this service that will be charged to your credit card. Most major credit cards are accepted-Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. GPS faxes us a confirmation immediately after payment has been made. That fax specifies the time and date the payment was made. Confirmations that arrive outside of business hours will be processed the next business day, but will be dated on the day the payment was made.
As Treasurer, I feel that offering taxpayers an option to pay their taxes by credit card is a good thing and could possibly be the solution for some who might lose their property in the forfeiture process.
